Game crashes on launch
Usually a version mismatch. Confirm the SBO JAR, Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin were all downloaded for the same Minecraft version, and that only one copy of each is present.

Step-by-step install

Pick your Minecraft version and install Fabric Loader
Decide which version you play on Hypixel (for example 1.21.5, 1.21.8 or 26.2), then install Fabric Loader for that exact version through the official Fabric installer or your launcher’s Fabric option. Launch the game once so the profile is created.

Find your mods folder
Windows:
%APPDATA%\.minecraft\mods. macOS:~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods. Linux:~/.minecraft/mods. If you use Prism, MultiMC or the Modrinth App, open the instance’s own mods folder instead. Create the folder if it does not exist. -
Install the two required dependencies
Download Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin for your Minecraft version and drop both JARs in the mods folder. Add Mod Menu too if you want SBO’s settings in the mod list.

Download SBO
Download the JAR from the direct download above.

Drop the JAR in and launch
Put the SBO JAR next to the dependencies — do not unzip it, do not rename it, do not nest it in a subfolder. Start Minecraft on the Fabric profile.

Confirm it loaded
Open Mod Menu and look for Skyblock Overhaul in the list, or type
/sboin-game. If the command is unknown, the mod did not load — almost always a version mismatch or a missing Fabric Language Kotlin. -
Join Hypixel SkyBlock and configure
Go to the Hub, then open the settings with
/sbo. Turn on the Diana features you want, add your warps, and use/sboguisto drag the overlays where you want them on screen. -
Updating later
Delete the old SBO JAR before adding the new one — two SBO JARs in the same folder will conflict. Your settings live outside the JAR and survive updates.
Configuration
SBO stores everything under config/sbo/ inside your Minecraft instance. That folder is where your tracker history, achievements and settings live, so it is the folder to back up — and the folder to copy if you move instances.
- Open settings:
/sbo, or via Mod Menu if you installed it. - Move overlays:
/sboguis(also/sbomoveguis,/sbomove) opens the GUI editor for every on-screen element. - Config location:
config/sbo/ - Custom sounds: drop audio files into
config/sbo/sounds/. The README lists.ogg,.mp3,.wav,.au,.aifand.aiffas accepted formats. No resource pack needed. - Test a sound:
/sbots(also/sbotsound). - Waypoint colours: each waypoint type — closest guess, other guess, start, mob, treasure, rare mob, other — has its own colour, opacity mode (dynamic or fixed), text scale, shadow and distance cutoff.
- Custom drop messages: announcer text supports placeholders such as
{mf},{amount}and{percentage}.
Keybinds
The README lists four keybinds, all unbound by default — you have to assign them in Minecraft’s Controls screen before they do anything.

Warping is keybind-driven, not automatic: SBO works out whether a warp is worth it and tells you, but you press the key. See the warp section for the distance rules, or the FAQ if something isn’t loading.
If it doesn’t work
/sbo is an unknown command
The mod isn’t loaded. Check Mod Menu’s list, check the JAR is directly inside mods/, and check the log for a missing-dependency line naming Fabric Language Kotlin.
Overlays are missing
They may be toggled off or dragged off-screen. Open /sboguis to reposition them and re-check the tracker toggles in /sbo.
Something broke after a Hypixel update
Expected with a beta mod that parses chat. Update to the newest SBO build first.
